Café St-andré from Chamoson Menu

"We by pure coincidence read an article about the restaurant in a brochure in Ovronnaz and decided to visit the restaurant for dinner. The dinner and service was excellent. The dinner consisted of 6 dishes with a very balanced wine menu that fitted the dishes. The service at the table was a pleasure and very knowledgeable. The menu was based on products from the region including use of wild plants in ways we hadn't experienced yet. We will use that in our own kitchen. Bon vent au Soleil."

"We mostly enjoyed this restaurant, a recommendation from a friend. The ambience is okay and for lunch this is nice and central in Bex. Menu choices were good and we both had St Jacques for starters then filet de veau for main accompanied by a...nice Jean René Germaniser Humagne Rouge (excellent). The amuse bouche, pork pâté with a curry mayonnaise was nice but a bit dry, the scallops delicious and fresh. We had each, served on a very weird looking pink (yes, it was! risotto. It tasted lovely, just presentationally looking a bit challenged!!! The veal took a while to arrive but was delicious but tiny!! For a portion, this was London prices for minimal delivery. Okay, it tasted wonderful, with a rich red wine jus and black truffle shavings on top. But the piece of meat was a very small cylinder in size and shape, about cm wide and cm high. The vegetables' consisted of three small blobs of foam and a small dish of foamed mashed/ creamed potatoes. It was very nice, but minuscule. When the bill arrived (we didn't have dessert or coffee at these prices) it was CHF Pricey and poor value, even though it tasted delicious. For the money, I'd choose Café Berra in Monthey over Café Suisse every time."
