Had the spinach pie combo that comes with very delicious hummus and falafel. The spinach pie has lots of marinated spinach with vinegar taste. Very unique. Hummus was so smooth and delicious I definitely want to order that again. It's behind a jewelry store so you may walk right past it View all feedback.
What Janel K doesn't like about Oasis:
Had the vegetarian plate. Visited Thursday, May 4th, 20231. Half a pita? ?? A little stingy2. Hummus- decent3. Baba ghanoush- excellent4. Falafel- decent. Lackluster on bold flavor, though.5. Tabbouleh- decent7/10. Would recommend if you're in the mood for Mediterranean/ Arabic eats in downtown Chicago. Located in the back of a jeweler. Decent recommendation from a friend that works close by.Vegetarian options: Almo... View all feedback.
Location is within a building. The restaurant is accessed via the jewelry store. The quality and quantity are without compare. Coming from my area of southern NJ. This was delectable. We were here on a Wednesday and the Kushari with Kirti which included an amazing lentil rice spiced with a bay leaf among other things, sautéed onions and a refreshing salad with cucumbers tomatoes onion and parsley.
The food and workers are amazing. The food tastes so authentic, but in a way where it reminds you of multiple countries and not just one. Always busy during lunch time as they deserve to be but the wait time is still around a minute and is really fast! Get the kabobs or chicken, you won't regret it :)Food: 5/5
They just pile a bunch of food on a plate and serve it to you. Amazing portion sizes, very friendly staff, and extremely delicious food. What a wonderful spot at the back of a random grocery store. Highly recommend going here, especially the Oasis Plate!Food: 5/5
The food is spicy, delicious and nice variety as a rice bowl. The meat amount and falafel was quite a lot. Though would have preferred tastier veg pieces. The is a bit hard to find, its inside the building after passing over another shop.Dietary restrictions: Halal
Note about the Hummus: has a yeasty taste which is different than that to which most people will be accustomed. Some people love it. I do not know if they sprout their chickpeas. I suspect that they do, and if they do, this would account for the yeasty flavor. This would probably make the hummus a “healthier” food for most people. But, there’s a risk that the hummus was just not fresh, or that they allowed the sprouting process to go too long on the day that I ate there (July 6, 2023). If you are histamine intolerant, you’ve been warned. Otherwise, the chicken kabob and yellow rice, was delicious. I have had better Baba Ganoush. I have fond memories of the Foul from ca. 2002, but did not order it this time.
