The Chef's House - Cleveland

Well done to order food, none of it was under a lamp forever! Breakfast bowl rocks like the sweet potato fries with dip. Ruben Sandwich and Burger are also really good. Portions are a good value for the service is always friendly I go back!

Surprisingly good!. A friend and I decided to visit the Chef 's House for the Monday Cajun Day Lunch Special on 8/20/12. The special thing this day was something called Shrimp Stew and garlic bread with a side salad and side dish made of yellow squash and onions. We really like shrimps prepared a number of possibilities, but had never heard of a shrimp stone and were a little skeptical as it would taste, but decided to try it anyway, since everything else we have ever ordered in the kitchen was so delicious. Wow! I'm here to tell you that Shrimp Stew served over rice was absolutely wonderful! The shrimps were medium to large with a tomato stew base full of peppers, onions and other delicious herbs with just enough to satisfy the taste buds. The yellow squash and onion side dish literally melted in the mouth! The side salad was a delight with fresh salad, carrots, cabbage and tomato wedges, especially when I made the cook Thousand Island Dressing, which I had asked to be served on the side. The fresh garlic bread was just right to make sure that I could get every drop of this wonderful stew! I really enjoy a good dessert, but my hunger was satisfied after eating this fantastic lunch special. The Dessert case made me aware anyway. Mama's dessert offerings this day included a strawberry Custard cake, beautiful apple cake, double chocolate cheesecake and hummingbird cake in addition to some cookies and fruit peels. One of my hobbies feeds and observes hummingbirds on the back porch, but I had never heard of a hummingbird cake. It looked safe as if it were delicious and a taste sample was made available by owner Amelia Anderson. That's it, I was dressed! Although I was not hungry at the moment, I knew that cake would make a really tasty afternoon with my hot tea or coffee and left the restaurant with a draw-out container of hummingbird cake to enjoy on the back porch while watching the hummingbirds this afternoon. Yep, this Hummingbird cake surely tasted good with a cup of coffee on the porch in the afternoon!

Well I must say its awful nice to have a place that takes orders for any kind of homemade pie or dessert you could want. We have gotten a couple of different homemade cobblers that were just like my mom used to make. Brought back many childhood memories. Great job to the pie cook! On a side note my wife read the review below and demanded I add her comments in what was written. So here goes her quote I 've been eating at the Chefs House since January this year and without question they have the best potatoe soup I 've eaten in my 47 years! As far as the pepper I always have to add more. Not trying to blast anyone just didn 't want everyone to judge it off that 's review solely. End quote. That is word for word what my wife said so please don 't be mad at me I 'm just the messenger trying to keep the wife happy. Lol

The food was fresh and delicious. We watched the chef grab a fresh jalepeno to add to the hash I ordered. I went with my 2yr old daughter and 11 yr old son. I ordered pancakes for my daughter and the waitress had asked him to make a Minnie Mouse shaped one to match my daughters shirt. It was wonderful and above and beyond. My son ordered eggs, bacon and grits. He loved them all. I ordered the hash and it was great. Tasted very fresh. It took awhile to get the food, but I told my son they made everything from scratch so that was to be expected. The place was very clean. The prices are a little high for the portion size, but overall a great experience. I will be back many times.

Excellent very friendly family owned run restaurant. Portions always more than enough. Healthy foods. Wonderful chef...Friendly service. Have it your way even if not on menu. Homemade deserts.Yummy! Oh yes...very clean!
