Fantastic dinner and such friendly staff, dropped in twice while on a break to St Bees, we had coffee and scrumptious cakes and even a bowl of water for our dog...

Good cheap food with a fab view, can get a chip butty or egg and chips for less than a fiver. Cakes are homemade and delicious. Friendly staff and a little shop...

"Decided to try The Globe whilst looking at places to eat near to where we were staying and I have to say I'm so glad we chose it. The staff were so friendly and the food was delicious. One thing I will say is that the portions are HUGE"

"The Ratty Arms pub is a converted railway station building situated right on the main line, a short walk over the bridge from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway station. We spent the morning on the narrow gauge railway and then crossed over the main railway line to the pub. The friendly staff gave us a very warm welcome and served us with a good lunch which we could eat while watching the mainline trains coming and going through the station. There's a good selection of real ales on offer from local breweries. We were told that the pub is owned by the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway so your purchases here help to fund the railway!"

"We stayed for one night with our new dog. The room was basic but perfectly fine and quiet. I think most of the staff were not in as it took a while to raise somebody yo the front desk to check in. There is a cozy bar where we ate (as we had a dog) and breakfast was at the same table. The room was slightly dated but perfectly fine, quiet and had a comfy bed. The bathroom was superb with a large shower and Jacuzzi bath. Plenty of hot water."

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a Harry Potter dormitory inspired room. Must confess that we found our room to be tee tiny and not entirely private, for the price paid (couldn 't even find a place except the bed to open our bags) Breakfast in the Pimlico Pantry was fine, and we appreciated the themed greeting letter, newspaper, and other treats. Something to consider for 1 night we couldn 't have stayed here any longer with the size."

"Went for evening meal and the food was delicious. It was definitely no nonsense pub food but after a day walking around various lakes, it is just what was needed. The staff were really friendly, great selection of food, all served piping hot and despite significant portions, still managed room for a desert. I can thoroughly recommend the pie, it was a proper pie, no casserole with a lid, pretending to be a pie. Decor is a tad basic but if its good food, good beer and a relaxed atmosphere, you won't go wrong."
