"Been meaning to visit Maddison’s for a while. Didn’t book in advance and went on a Monday late morning and got the last table. We sat in the Snug which was a nice little hideaway from the rest of the coffee shop, but it was far from snug..it was very cold and we kept our coats on. Menu is varied, everything from breakfasts to baked potatoes, waffles, crepes… good choice of delicious looking fresh baked slices too. Lots of drinks and delicious coffees to choose from too. Two of our meals came out together but we waited for the final meal a bit too long. The waitress noticed and chased it up by which time we had mostly ate our food as it was getting cold fast due to the draught in the room. Food was really nice (though katsu was very very spicy and isn’t meant to be). Hot chocolate was epic! Prices are reasonable. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, cannot fault them one bit. They were very apologetic about the cold in the snug, the delay on food and the lack of hand towels in the toilet. (So you can’t dry your hands). Will try this place again as the tray baked (in photo) looked amazing. If you’re driving, there is a big car park 5 minutes away or a retail park further down the hill with plenty of spaces."
