This was my first time here. Pancake pot pie was very good. Do not pour the side of syrup onto this dish; it already has syrup inside. I just added a little at a time as I worked my way through. Very filling and good. I wished there was a little more sausage. Lovely waitress who kept us taken care of. The food came out about 15 minutes after ordering. Loves the experience. View all feedback.
What Celia Rosenbaum doesn't like about Ellen's Southern Kitchen:
Have not been in Dallas for a very long time. Looking for local cuisine close to hotel. The buttermilk fried chicken was very good, the sides mushroom with chilies and chards were god too. The spicy beef soup turned out to be just like chili and it was good but it could be more spicy. The reason I didn’t give one more star is because I had ask for utensils and extra hot sauce, and got none. The food came 15 minutes l... View all feedback.
Taste: aservice: bmimosas: bsolo dining room: bi came for pancake pots and I enjoyed every bite. be they not fast to pour the syrup on it, I enjoyed some bites without the syrup and it is still great. what a unique creation with the whole breakfast quality in a bowl. I would rather have striped of speck than crumb and I would have had more strength, but it was still great overall. we waited for a terrace table and if the weather is nice, I would highly recommend doing the same.
We were in the middle of eating my wife and I, when I smell a funky smell, I finally found where it came from and it was the plate! I courteously told the manager my care and he reacted “good, what should I do?” then I asked him how he smells the teller what he did, but his answer was snoring and said: “It smells like a teller,” I asked to smell again and said, “I smell nothing.” I got crazy and said I don't want to pay for what he reacted, he'll call the police. yes I am a black man?. don't eat it was already good anyway.
We were recommended for breakfast at ellen what superb! skylar was our server and she was friendly and very attentive. unfortunately we returned one day later to dinner, which was soured by the memory. the menu does not change the same day (we did not recognize) and the evening staff had a very “serve, eat, go” approach to customer service (we had hardly eaten the last bite before the check was delivered).
Beautiful restaurant. it was proposed by our hotel staff. we were very satisfied with the quality of eating and service.
Ellen's is a little treasure in downtown Dallas. It is inviting, the food is marvelous, and the service is excellent. The Manager is just delightful, and visited with us a couple of times during our meal. He even accommodated my granddaughter when she needed a mask to catch out Uber back to our hotel. Thank you for a lovely, quiet dinner!
