I visit this bar around 4 times a year when I'm in the area for work. I was there last night, July 25th, and I have to say the two girls with black hair in ponytails were amazing. They were working hard in a very busy bar and it seemed like they were the only staff there, but they remained friendly and calm throughout the evening. They are a real asset to the business. As for the bar itself, I always find it clean an... View all feedback.
What Julie Furminger doesn't like about The Saracens Head Inn:
I have been here before as the service and food quality had been ok but yesterday, going there for a family member's birthday I was struck (again) by the lack of cleanliness with sticky tables and food on the floor and a very sticky floor in front of the bar. I know we're talking about cheap and cheerful and the food we had was fine, but a little more effort on the hygiene front would have made it a better experience... View all feedback.
Today, we stopped by the Saracens Head in Daventry for a few drinks. The place has undergone some renovations since our last visit, and the decor and overall atmosphere have definitely improved. However, I did encounter some issues with the staff. During my two visits to the bar, I was met with a lackadaisical and indifferent attitude, particularly from the large girl with pink and black hair. This kind of attitude is off-putting, but I am willing to give this place another chance.
Regular visitor here, a nice pub for a meal. Several rooms throughout the venue including a mezzanine floor. It’s a nice historic old building. It’s a Wetherspoons so it is what it is… fancy some modestly priced pub grub and drinks it’s just the job.
Comfortable, spacious, historic, interesting. One of the better Wetherspoons. No problems. Good food. Good beer. Good value. Be very happy to have breakfast here again.
Bank holiday Sunday...no whiskey, no cocktails. My friend order cheesy chips....where is the cheese we said? More we would like...£1.50 for a sprinkle of cheese. This. Is. Outrageous.
Having read the previous comments I might easily have been put off but as I was in Daventry anyway today I gave it a try and I was I was satisfied. OK many of the meals on the menu were not available but to as they were not long out of Lockdown it is probably going to take them a while to get up to full steam. We were served by a waitress called Megan. She was very pleasant and efficient. As all of the customers were obviously spread out at tables in the garden we were amazed with the amount of walking she had to do backwards and forwards. She still managed to be professional about it in looking after the customers. Another lady came out to when the wind blew over one of the sunshades and she was quite pleasant to. I think they are trying hard at that Wetherspoons.
