Sometimes traditional sweets don't taste the best But not for this one it has a lovely balance Owner clerk was also friendly to tourists Highly recommended if you're ever in the area View all feedback.
I love mochi and I love red bean paste, so when I heard that the area was famous for a umegae mochi, I had to try it. And holy smokes, this stuff is so good. I could’ve eaten 10 of them. Eating them warm is the best and it’s now one of my favorite Japanese sweets. Delicious. This place is actually across the street from the original, but serves the same treats.
I enjoyed the matcha set. The cafe is very relaxing, the garden and the interior are perfect.
The cake is delicious and the environment is soothing in the afternoon. The garden is tiny, but it is so calm.
Tried three shops of red bean rice cake. Theirs is slightly better, therefore a 5-star rating. However it may not worth the queue so much. Therefore just go to the other shops if you wanna avoid the queue, not such a significant difference.
The Umegamochi have a nice balance, mochi is not too sticky yet still chewy enough, the red bean paste is not too sweet with slightly saltiness which is good, it is a perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness! Really worth the price!
