"This was just wonderful in every way. A meal which completely outdid recent visit to Tom Kitchen restaurant in Edinburgh in every way. Beautiful food. Wonderful care very personal. Unobtrusive. Honest honest. And food sourced and grown locally. I was encouraged to run my finger round the plate to pick up the last drops of sauce. 'Feel at home '. So very relaxing. The four of us dining just loved it. Not cheap but excellent quality and value for money. Worth every penny and pound! Shall return!"

"Prompt, cheerful service and generous portions. The menu has a rather limited choice of standard pub fare, but the food was tasty and well-presented. Note that food service ends relatively early, at 7.30pm. The drinks selection is a bit unimaginative, but they do at least have a good choice of low-alcohol beers. On the plus side, there is a lovely garden with some excellent childrens' play equipment, so it's certainly family-friendly."

"Fourth visit at this lovely hotel; rooms clean and warm, staff friendly and helpful. Great choice for breakfast, we had a meal with friends all meals lovely, well presented. Good quality and quantity. Emma is a lovely, friendly person nothing too much trouble, will certainly be staying again. Rooms: Lot of modernisation been done, very comfortable Nearby activities: Ideal for travelling round, Food drinks: Couldn’t be faulted, either breakfast or evening meal Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great value"

"Can't give a full review. Booked 27th September turned up to booking 18th November to embarrassing fiasco of latecomers still at our assigned table for 6, then next local group of 6 through door having tables merged to accommodate while we stood and watched. Then advised not enough chairs for 3 tables to be put together, finally told there was a curry house other end of town. So really not worth the hours drive there and back from Moffat."

"The food here was okay but nothing out of this world. My husband had to send his food back as he had asked for the steak to be cooked well done but it was still pink inside. There wasn't much atmosphere however it was pretty quiet so perhaps would have been different if it had a few more people in"
