What Charles Brooke Taylor likes about The Proper Fish Chips Co.:
Great fish and chips, but the additional bits were what made it 5 star. The fish was good for the most part (flavoursome and tender) but with a large fish by the time you got to the end the underneath batter was all soggy and oily. However the chips were good, and the mixed seafood platter was spectacular! I'd go back just for that platter. The salt and pepper squid was terrific. Service: Take out View all feedback.

Have been having fish and chips from here for several years, however the last few times the standard has dropped. Last week we had fish, chips and mushy peas and the fish was of a very poor standard. The actual fish was grey and thin, and was very dry. The batter was extremely hard and almost orange in colour. It was almost brittle on the outside but still uncooked on the inside!
