"We like the Smokehouse, and think it serves pretty decent fish and seafood in a nice informal setting. We have been supporters of the place since it first opened, but were quite disappointed when we attempted to pop in for a take away for two people one Wednesday lunchtime. We drove along, went in to order two main options to take away home to eat in the garden, and were met with a standoffish 'have you booked? ' to which I replied that no we hadn 't and were just here for a take away. It was 12 noon and the place was deserted, with the exception of a couple of table sitting outside. The owner shrugged his shoulders and just said, well you needed to book a slot on the website even for a take away, and those are usually booked up a week in advance. To me this seems such an odd way of running things no opportunity for an impromptu drop in or for tourists walking along the coastal path for example, hoping to stop for a bite of lunch. We left and went to the Wee Chippy in Anstruther and were better off. We noticed that the prices at the Smokehouse have shot up rather significantly too. It 's difficult to think that we would ever come back, but then it seems that repeat customers might not be the target audience..."
