"Such a nice restaurant! love how the menu often changes, and all products are seasonal. that was delicious, secretly. in any case one has to try! just for why I'm given him a 4 instead of 5 because I'm a cocktail girl, and they just weep and be in the offer. could have done with some kisses on the outside seats."

"Good selection of options throughout the Asian range with vegetarian options that can be vegan, except the Burnt Butter Cauliflower. We sat outside, which is quite beautiful, allies of restaurants in Crows Nest are set up for it. The interior seats are available at some tables and some benches. Good food, we enjoyed the dishes, the Tamarind Curry had a very nice taste, creamy with a hint of sour. The mushrooms stir fry was also very nice. Spring rolls and dumplings were good. Well, that there is a vegan Gf option in the Entrees. Updated by previous review on 2022-01-17"

"Really nice cafe and bar with friendly staff and lots of dogs. The coffee wasn't bad although had a rather unusual flavour but the food really stood out. Fairly standard breakfast fare but with twists like lots of sambal and hash and my bowl had a whole potato and half an avocado."

"We got a nice sushi platter, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. Fish is fresh and serving is enough for two people. Note: Best to get a booking before coming as they place gets super busy. We went without a booking 'cause it was a first for us but got lucky to be seated. They don 't have a carpark so best bet is to find a spot in Eastwood, close to the resto. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Takoyaki, Chicken Karaage, Sashimi"

"Is there a decent sushi bar/restaurant in Sydney? The answer is no. (That includes Sake, Sokyo and Sushi E) Hukuya is an unassuming, friendly and casual restaurant adjacent to the Eastwood station which offers an assortment of typical sushi and sashimi boats. Most of their combos are unimaginative and common but considerably expensive (considering the location).

Sydneyguyrojoe, Al and I made our way
into the Korean-owned restaurant yesterday and ordered several items from their menu including vegetable salad, hukuya special sashimi/sushi and adegashi tofu. First, the tofu was a cheap simple beancurd from a typical Asian supermarket and not the smooth, silky and fragrant Japanese tofu.

Second, the sashimi and sushi were borderline average - the tuna was not stale but not a fresh catch. Like 100+ other Japanese restaurants in Sydney, Hukuya did not use the high-quality Japonica rice which exudes a natural fragrance and consists of short round translucent grains that has a natural sticky texture when it is cooked. This is a pity because even street hawkers in Singapore and corner supermarket outlets in Hong Kong prepare their sushi using high quality grains but three times cheaper. Sydneysiders like us are shortchanged!

Third, the prawn tempura was not the usual fare either. The thick, crunchy batter overpowered the fresh, succulent taste of the prawns whereas the dipping sauce lacked the flavour of garlic, ginger and rice wine vinegar.

Once again, the only saving grace is good company and endless gossips!! I would be immensely grateful if anyone could share a decent Japanese restaurant in Sydney ????"

"A hidden gin bar around red with live jazz every Tuesday and Sunday night. the interiors of the bar are antiques and have an aesthetic note. they have a lot of gin cocktails collections, and some unique. love her gin and tonic of tassie. a visit worth when they are in the environment!"
