"We recently visited this place for a meal, after finding out it was dog friendly. The meal we had was exceptional and the staff were very professional and attentive. Not only were we fed well but the dog was also offered treats. We were so...impressed that we have already booked our next meal there. I hope that this place remains a well kept secret as it is perfect as it is."

"Had the beef dinner. It wasn’t really up to scratch. Didn’t enjoy the beef was very tough and over done. I don’t think the Yorkshire’s were home made. Would have been lower but the service pulled it back up. All food came out together and hot. Other peoples meals looked ok.. just avoid the beef. Service: 4 Location: 4"

"Lovely little café! Went in here for breakfast and it was delicious! Extremely good value for the price! Tea, 2 mochas, fresh orange juice, a bacon sandwich, a sausage sandwich 2 egg and sausage muffins and a slice of cake for less than £30! Staff are so kind would definitely recommend!"

"Great friendly pub dog friendly). Food is lovely, service is brilliant and atmosphere is spot on. I was there last week again this week. Great roaring fire and the locals are so welcoming. I like to stay there as there are great walks, a lake and a reservoir, handy for Carlisle, Hadrians Wall, Brampton, Scotland. It truly is like The Lakes without the crowds and the bustle."

"We randomly popped in starving on a Sunday for lunch after taking a wrong turn. Completely new to us so we delighted the food was excellent! The owners were very friendly and the service was great. Pleased they had 0% gin and beers. They had a dog friendly restaurant and I imagine in the summer the garden next to the river would be gorgeous! Top tip- there’s a nice walk along the river Allan to Staward Gorge close by. Park either side of the big stone bridge. Food drinks: We had a beef Sunday dinner, salmon and crab cake with samphire. Top quality food and felt like a real treat! Felt fortunate to discover it. Noteworthy details: Nearby walks along the river Allan to Staward Gorge and Allan Banks a National Trust site. Spectacular views up the crags and across tall trees and along the river"
