The Medina breakfast is one of the many delights you can find in the city. I'm not talking about the late morning breakfasts, which are too heavy, but rather the ones that the locals in Morocco are accustomed to. The Moroccan bread is exceptional, with a variety of traditional types to choose from. The most famous is tafarnout or afanou, made in a clay oven and flattened by hand to create a round shape. Other types include r'ghayef, mlawi, axe, and batbot. This bread is easily torn by hand and does not require a knife to cut.
