This was our second time staying here. It is a lovely property. Grounds are well kept. We enjoyed taking walks and also relaxing while overlooking the golf course. We had the breakfast buffet every morning which was delicious and served by wonderful staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. We have decided to make this our place every year when we come down to the area to visit family! View all feedback.
What KK4044 doesn't like about The Tavern At Virginia Crossings:
Hotel is many years passed needing a renovation. The pillows are also awful. Sheets stained with what appear to be blood droplets. It’s sad because this property could be stunning. The grounds are nice but the buildings are worn and dirty. I am Hilton Diamond and have stayed at some lovely Hilton properties and this ISN’T one of them. View all feedback.
Very good, nice staff, food was great. No wifi unless you are a guest though :
We stumbled across this hotel as a stopping place on our drive back up from Florida to NY. We booked last minute and had a truck full of inherited furniture-we must have been a sight when we pulled in! We were so impressed with the tranquility and beauty of this historic hotel. It was clean, secure, and peaceful, which we really appreciated after 13 hours of straight driving! We plan on visiting again-next time it will be as part of of golf trip, so we can enjoy the amenities offered here!
Hubby and I have been coming to Virginia Crossings for at least 12 years but skipped a few due to COVID. Apparently the hotel has gone way downhill since our previous visit. The property is gorgeous but the hotel itself really needs some updating. While the guest rooms are still in good shape, the common areas are in dire need of renovation. All the carpets (hallways, elevators, restaurant building) are filthy and stained. There is a pervasive moldy stench throughout the buildings. We thought since Hilton took over this property they would put some money into it, but sadly, they have not.
We had heard of Virginia Crossings but had always presumed it was the typical hotel/conference center. Then, while listening to a show on Boomtown radio, we were surprised to hear that it was much more. It sounded interesting and we were looking for a staycation. So I bought a discount certificate from the radio station 's shopping show and we stayed there Saturday night. We loved it! The architecture and decore hints of Colonial Williamsburg. Parkubg was free and easy. Our room was exceptionally clean with a bright, modern bathroom. We had all the usual upscale hotel amenities from fridge to wide-screen TV. The bed was soooo comfy. We did find ourselves wishing they had a few more elevators. The grounds are beautifully kept, including the golf course, though we can 't attest to its quality as mini-golf is as far as we go in that sport. The pool and whirlpool were clean as was the area around it and the fitness centers ample. We had not a single bad experience with staff. Indeed, they were quite friendly and helpful. When I got lost navigating (it is a large complex with several buildings) a housekeeper not only offered directions, but insisted on escorting me to where I was going. The dinner menu for their tavern sounded quite appealing and looked reasonably priced but we had reservations elsewhere. I did partake of their breakfast which offers an à la carte menu or buffet. I went buffet and, unlike many restaurant breakfasts where cold, overcooked and dried out seem to be the rule, everything was delishously fresh from the bread and fruit tables to the main dishes. There wasn 't a dried-out lump of scrambled eggs or shriveled sausage link in sight! The price was quite reasonable. All-in-all, this will be our staycation spot from now on and the place we will recommend for family and friends visiting. So glad we heard about it.
We spent two nights here while visiting the area. Check in and check out went smooth and our room was fine. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the breakfast each day. Not a far drive from area attractions.
