Our last visit to the cracker barrel in Gonzales, LA was great. The staff was warm. Our waiter did an excellent job to make sure we had what we needed. The cookies are among the best. They were soft and fresh. The waiter brought a lot of jam as we had demanded. The food was very good. I had the Bratbeef that was delicious, the meat was very tender, no need for knives. "I asked the server for a recommendation. The two dishes were the General Tso chicken and the Honey Walnut Shrimp because those were the most popular. I chose the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Too sweet, too rubbery, and it ruined the dish. Not executed very well. This was $20. Appetizer was the Fried Cheese Wontons with a spicy chili sauce. The sauce had a nice kick to balance the sweetness of the wontons. Wontons are lightly batter with a nice crunch. I would order these again. As of now, I am giving this place 3 stars until I return and try something else."
