"My wife and I had dinner at the Thorndyke in Grand Bank NL during our exploration of the Burin Peninsula. Food was delicious and the service was professional. It is situated on the ocean front, providing a beautiful view of the sea and all that goes on at its surface. George, the chef, was telling us that about a week prior to our visit, a large pod of pothead whales put on quite the show right in front of the Thorndyke. The building itself has historical significance and its interior and exterior are quite unique. We highly recommend the Thorndyke dining room."

"Alright this place is nice. Cash only and there is an ATM close by. I had the baked beans and a lasagna. Pretty good. Told the people I am working that I went here. There first question did you have the cheesecake. When I said no they got mad. Apparently the cheese cake is amazing. Now there is an amazing dessert menu there and next time I will have the cheesecake."

"Friendly service and average food – not much choice as the only other restaurant in Fortune is Mary Brown’s chicken. We had lunch here before boarding the ferry. The restaurant is located next to the ferry ticket office and a block from the ferry terminal....The meals were well prepared and plentiful – your average greasy spoon, but altogether, no complaints."

"I'm a big Mary Browns fan but this place obviously doesn't have the traffic (in May) to keep fresh Chicken ready. It was dry and tasteless. I went back to ask for another 3 piece and it was just as bad. Taters, as always, were...great!"
