"My wife and I had dinner at the Thorndyke in Grand Bank NL during our exploration of the Burin Peninsula. Food was delicious and the service was professional. It is situated on the ocean front, providing a beautiful view of the sea and all that goes on at its surface. George, the chef, was telling us that about a week prior to our visit, a large pod of pothead whales put on quite the show right in front of the Thorndyke. The building itself has historical significance and its interior and exterior are quite unique. We highly recommend the Thorndyke dining room."

"Alright this place is nice. Cash only and there is an ATM close by. I had the baked beans and a lasagna. Pretty good. Told the people I am working that I went here. There first question did you have the cheesecake. When I said no they got mad. Apparently the cheese cake is amazing. Now there is an amazing dessert menu there and next time I will have the cheesecake."

"We were booked into Fortune Harbourview B B for the nights of Aug.4th 5th/2015. We had a tour booked in St Pierre the following morning, so that is what brought us to Fortune. We were warmly greeted by the owner of the B B and...then we were shown to the basement unit where we would be staying for the next two nights. It was a very comfortable two bedroom unit with a living room and full kitchen. The lady who greeted us (Brian Roses ' wife I believe, I am sorry that I forget your name..... Anyway, she was very welcoming and showed us the unit that we would be spending our next two nights. She strongly recommended that we go over to the ferry office to purchase our tickets. We did so, which took a little while, but while we were waiting, we noticed a restaurant in the same building. With ferry tickets in hand, we went back to our unit to freshen up and get a few things out of our suitcases. We headed back to the Stage Head Restaurant for supper, and I was the first one to enter. I turned to my brother and sister and said I guess we won 't be eating here tonight because they closed at 7pm. It was now about 7:15pm. A lady came out of the restaurant and said What are you talking about? We don 't turn anybody away for supper. Come on in.... We were seated and a beautiful young waitress served us and we thanked her so much. She took it in her stride and just said That 's okay, we 're going to be here for at least and hour cleaning up, so it 's no big deal to make something for you guys to eat . I do not remember what my brother and sister ordered, but I had the pan fried cod which was excellent! Brian Rose, you should be very proud of your establishment, I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat!!! This is clearly Newfoundland hospitality at its finest!!!!! Theresa from Toronto"

"Since there isn 't much choice in Fortune, we decided to try this chicken here for our second supper. The chicken was very good and not greasy at all! Unfortunately, since we were getting the chicken 'to go ' we never thought to ask for forks, for...the coleslaw, and the person behind the counter didn 't give us any."
