If you find yourself in the Downtown Arroyo Grande area and have a craving for ice cream, make sure to stop by Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream. They offer a rotating selection of 20-25 flavors, with hand-packed quarts available for purchase. This classic ice cream shop harkens back to the heyday of ice cream parlors, with all their delicious ice cream made on site. Choose from cones, milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits, and... What Jessica Lim doesn't like about Doc Burnstein's Creamery Tour:
This facility is closed and the tours are not happening anymore. The worker there told us production is no longer taking place here. But you can drive 5 min away to the shop and pick up the ice cream View all feedback.
With a nod to the heritage of the Central Coast as an oil-delivery hub in the early 20th century, have the Motor Oil chocolate ice cream. It is dark, redolent of other flavors as it is enjoyed. It isn't too sweet and it is a sin to put anything else in with it: have your sundae made from any other type, they have at least thirty ice creams; you'll never see as good mixed in the other shops. Vintage store front, train running overhead, lots of gear and kids area to play in the back with the mechanical show cow.
We loved our trip to this factory with other Airstream owners. The staff gave us an informative tour, chilling us down in the cold storage areas and letting us sample their excellent product. Their success is due to adding only the freshest ingredients and using 16% fat cream delivered daily from the best suppliers. The character is a portrayal of Doc Bernstein. We loved our visit.
Beeesssttt milchshakes on the coast! Every time we visit, we have to pass.
We loved it here, but the last three visits were not so great! They put my son cone on the dirty counter and I had to ask for a new one. they sued me and then sued me wrong for a cake. the last visit I told that they did not take the gift card style I have and it was bought at the end of november. the person who took payments did this and then shook touching cone with wash out their hands or gloves! big!
For the low fee it was a blow learning about the history of the company as they make their ice cream, and more. everyone there seems to really enjoy what they do.
