"Very nice place to stop and one of the few open on Saturday. We got the pizza and banana bread and both were fantastic (homemade dough). Very nice atmosphere with bamboo, plenty of seating, and well landscaped grounds. Worth stopping at while driving the road to Hana or back."

"I thought it would not live up to the hype, but AMAZING CHICKEN, And Pork! Not a fan of the Laila’s pork. The smoke flavor and marinade makes it great! Make sure to hit here before 12:30 am. The food is hottest then!"

"The coconut shrimp here was very good but my family asked for five orders and the woman refused. She said if she sold us five then she would run out so we could only have four and one order of fish and chips. This struck me as...odd to say the least. The fries also seemed like they were frozen. For $20 I would have expected more of them, but the coconut shrimp made it worth it."

"We did not see this place on happy cow, but stumbled on it during the shaka guide’s reserve road on hana tour. so glad he mentioned it, otherwise we would never have known that it was all vegan! we have a schnapps of each taste and all were really creamy. owner was also super nice."

"To be honest, this was the best thing we had on maui, while we were also some of the cheapest and huge portions. the Katsu chicken and pork sandwich were from this world. friendly staff and nice little sitting places in the open. stop them here when they are in hana"

"Short story : clean, comfy, easy place to stay for a short trip to Hana Long story : booked a one night accomidation as part of a hiking trip to/near Hana. The room meet our needs perfectly : simple and clean (1B1B). The communication ahead of time via email was greatly appreciated. The emails noted late arrival procedures and suggestions for food. We spent the day prior to our arrival hiking, so it was super useful to know we had to be in Hana in time to eat prior to things closing down. The late check in process was very easy. The property is older, but well maintained. Quiet property. The bed was comfy. Bathroom clean. Full kitchen was nice, though we didn't take advantage of it. This is not Hana Kai Maui's fault, but I have no where else to comment on this. And perhaps word gets around a small community. The tension between locals and tourists is palpable. As someone who tries to listen, learn, follows rules, and be a gracious guest, I did not feel welcome in Hana. On the short drive from Hana Kai to the food trucks, two people gave me the middle finger and one driver purposefully slowed down to yell obscenities at me. I witnessed tourist entitlement, so I can only imagine the local frustration."

"The food here is amazing! The pad see ew is light but has a very rich flavor, and the lemonade was tangy and refreshing. If I lived in the area I'd be a regular for sure! I then went to the second Ae's food truck, which serves burgers, and got a milkshake and fries. These were also very good!"
