We ate lunch here midway through a walk with a large group. The food was nice and piping hot. The only negative was very tired rocket garnish. Staff efficient, patient and friendly View all feedback.
What evawO7064LN doesn't like about The Farmer's Arms:
I’ve been to this pub several times in the past satisfactorily so was very disappointed with the food on this occasion. I had fish and chips; chips stone cold, peas in a separate dish didn’t appear cooked at all and the batter was soggy though fish itself generous).. no one came to check that the food was OK. I didn’t complain as we were in a group and I didn’t want to appear moany but really it was awful! View all feedback.

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant with friends and all our kids. It's a fantastic place - welcoming, cozy, clean, with excellent staff and delicious Sunday lunch! I can't praise this place enough. Keep up the great work. Simply brilliant.

Last minute stop, had not booked, friendly welcome on a dark and stormy night, good food, good pub grub, lots of happy people here. Highly recommended.
We arrived at the restaurant at 1 pm on a weekday and experienced a long wait to be served. Despite the low number of customers, we had to ask for menus after waiting for 25 minutes. The female staff seemed inattentive, with one employee noticeably preoccupied with drinking a beer behind the bar. We had to actively seek out the staff for dessert menus and coffee. The hake dish was excellent, but the fish cakes were disappointing - they appeared over-fried, hard, and dry, while the vegetables were soggy. By 2:45 pm, we had just finished dessert when a staff member informed us that the pub would be closing in 10 minutes, prompting us to hurry through our meal. The overall experience felt rushed. Had we not encountered such a long wait at the beginning, we could easily have finished by 2:30 pm. The pub was also quite chilly due to a draft from two open doors. Our previous dining experience at the same venue was vastly different - the fish cakes were much better cooked and presented, and the service was attentive and welcoming, particularly thanks to the male manager at that time. This time, however, we felt like an inconvenience. The food was also on the expensive side. As a result, we have mixed feelings about returning in the future.
