"We were staying locally, and Russell's was recommended by our hosts. There was clearly some nervousness, because it was so soon after lifting of Covid restrictions, but the proprietors had prepared well, and we enjoyed a lovely evening – in spite of a pompous prat in a kilt, who tried to insinuate that we were invading his personal space by being in Scotland. Turned out he was an English surgeon from Inverness, 80 miles away! The food was great, too."

"We stop here for a tea and a cake on our roadtrip and it was such a lovely visit! The handmade fresh baked cakes were delicious! And the staff lovely. A very charmy little place with lovely tea’s and delicious cakes is all you want...when travelling in this cold weather!"

"We opted for this Chinese restaurant as a change from the usual 'local ' options. The restaurant was busy all evening with sit-in and takeaway customers. We enjoyed the food which was tasty and spicy although the presentation could have been better. Service was reasonably efficient. The decor looks like it hasn 't been refreshed in about 30 years, which makes it a bit depressing. Overall though, worth a visit for the food, if not the ambience."

"It’s located down a charming path to the lock ness. It was clean and the food very good for a tourist area. I had the chicken and steak kabobs with great rice and a fresh salad. My friends had nicely grilled salmon over fresh vegetables. They really take pride in their establishment. It took some time to get waited on so order everything from drinks to food at once to help speed things along."

"Gem on a country road. Retro cute. Overpriced, maybe? But, that’s the way it is in Fort William. The rooms are modern. Quiet. Very clean and comfortable. Really warm throughout the premises. Constant hot water supply with high pressure. Beautiful garden. The hotel staff are amazing. We really enjoyed the dinner and the breakfast. Food came out so fast! We really appreciated the inn’s high standard upkeep and their genuine service. There are only 10 rooms. Two have barrier-free access. Others need one flight of stairs to access."

"One of the best homemade steak pies I've ever tasted. Big succulent chunks of tasty beef in a really nice gravy. Even the puff pastry is better than most other places. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Homemade Steak Pie"

"There are times when I am ashamed to be mischievous, and today one of them was. we in Scotland rely heavily on the arrival of tourism, and the edinburgh woollen company is one of the most important tourist shops in Scotland with many outlets throughout the country. yet it offers the most appalling toilets for its customers on the erdbrücke. there are limited places to stop the busloads of (mostly foreign) tourist and a break in this area of highland. these beautiful people who have undoubtedly spent a fortune coming here and looking forward to seeing the best of our country should be able to stretch their legs, a view of a pleasant load, they enjoy a beautiful coffee in a pleasant environment and especially in the location to use toilet facilities that are clean and fit for purpose. Unfortunately, the customer toilets urgently need a renovation here and it is important to note that they have been seriously need for renovation for years. I cannot imagine that there is something more embarrassing for tourists from ladies, in a strange country, coming out of a toilet cabin and explaining the ladies waiting in the waiting queue, in words that they do not necessarily have in English that the toilet is not flush. there are 5 or 6 cubes and two ladies had this terrible experience in the few minutes in which I was. as a nation that places great value on tourism, we should treat all our visitors with what they deserve, and that includes the provision of facilities that are suitable for use."

"Absolutely superb food created by Sean and his team. We've stayed at The Lovat on a number of occasions and dinner at Station Road is a real experience and most definitely worthy of a The menu was perfect with the locally foraged mushroom dish being one of the highlights the textures were incredible. The apple mousse was really light and the treacle bread is always amazing. Venison was cooked to perfection and the venison tartare a great addition. The wee potato was yum! The cucumber pearls on the trout dish we're full of flavour and the mousse encased in the little leaf was packed with flavour. The wee pre starter was delicious too and set the tone. Good local beer and wine was lovely too. The hotel in general is first class. Great room which was super cosy and spacious with a really comfy bed. Public spaces gorgeous and peaceful. All together a great weekend thanks to the team for looking after us once again"
