"We had a great time here, but the food was cut too much for my son. He's 7. My wife and I loved everything, including the burger my son was not interested in. The burger was seasoned with many herbs we liked, but just a little too much for my son. The volcanic fog salad is to die for... Can't wait to go back and have this back"

"We arrived at Sweet Cane Cafe quite famished after a morning of hiking in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We ordered the chipotle black bean burger, subbing mac-nut spread for cheese, and the raw nori wrap. Both were delicious, filling, and made with super fresh ingredients. We tried a chocolate chip cookie, as well, which was a great treat to end the meal. If we had been in Hilo longer, we would have happily eaten here again!"

"7/24/22 two days in order. simple ono food. steak and eggs offer a pretty dang hearty steak for the price, and I am a steak lover. tender, cooked on order. only a really nice, busy, hometown dinner with friendly staff and must taste specials. I wish I had more time. Anyway, it's easy. try it."

"Food was bad. Service was HORRIBLE. DISGUSTING AND RUDE KITCHEN STAFF. Not a great place to have food at. 1. Staff is very rude when complained about sour palak paneer (probably due to cream), under cooked lamb, undercooked peas, sour mango lassi, burned veg pakora they said next time food will be better. On requesting if they can cook it again for us, they rudely declined. This is tourist place where we will not come again. 2. Ambiance was not welcoming. When we complained to the chef and manager they were more interested in cutting the talk about the food and doing small talk about where we are from. Bathrooms, sitting area as unclean and unhygienic. Unfortunately there aren't any other Indian food options on Big Island otherwise their business would have shutdown already. Their other branch in Kona has really good food. Probably the kitchen staff including the cook are good people who know their job and are good reasonable human beings."

"This place gave us the best experience we had in Hilo, all restaurants nearby early so bars seem to be the only choice past to be the ANNEX Friendly and fun and good atmosphere. The BBQ ribs were not disappointed and the chicken strips were literally the best I've ever tried. Apparently dog friendly and the music she had was intoxicated and made for such a great night."
