My favorite Indian restaurant on the island of Oahu (at least until I find another). I ordered four entrees: Chicken Masala Curry, Chicken Tikka Curry, Pepper Chicken Curry and Chicken Vindaloo. Warning if you do not eat spices, do not order Chicken Vindaloo and Pepper Chicken Curry; they are sharp, and I love them! The restaurant opens daily at 5 pm, only for dinner. What Aaron Schmitt doesn't like about Cafe Maharani:
We have dinner for 2 combo. I ordered butter chicken, it tasted like a bunch of spices in a spoon. Worse butter chicken I had so disappointed. I don't even eat spicy, so I have no idea why it was spicy to start with it. I know butter chicken is sweet creamy that wasn't it! As the garlic naan tasted like dough without taste. We spent $96 a dinner for 2 and we didn't even finish it! Money waste!!! I know this is Hawaii... View all feedback.
It was found that the food is the same quality as Palace of Asia. Food and service are unfortunately not the same quality. The food was ordered via the phone. The woman who took the order was uninformative and acted as if her time was was wasted by my order and after waiting for some time. It was asked to have a dish mild or without hot spices, she told me that none of her dishes are without spices, except a cooked in yogurt and curry. I was informed that all dishes are prefabricated in medium spices. We received our food without rice and garlic naan without garlic. When I called back to discuss the woman, said that the restaurant was too busy to inform me that the dishes do not come with rice and rice must be ordered separately. She also informed me that it was on me that I called during a time that the restaurant was busy. The kitchen was responsible for the garlic Naan and she said that our family member could drive 30 minutes back to the restaurant for rice. I asked her if she was going to rice for 30 minutes, she told me she had to go now. The dishes are quite large portions that could feed 3-4 ppl a good serving per dish. The pepper chicken is very spicy, level 5 spicy and although you can feel the spices, it is lacking the fat taste that should accompany it. The vegetable Samoas are large, but Blande, no spices at all. The butter chicken is about 3 in spices and has a mild Tandoori taste. The Aloo Palak was not completely mixed, had no spices and lacked the known flavors that make the dish such a favorite. Overall, the food is nice, but it does not correspond to the standard, the customer service is extremely lacking and I would decide to try another place next time, we are back in the area.

So sad did we order it and not even eat it, now???? Our exhaust bowls are still full and placed in the refrigerator, so it doesn't stink our garbage. Can I get a refund?!
The price went up 20% each menu. Apr2022. I ordered Chai tea but tasted too bitter and old, not fresh. asked a staff It was wired taste and she tried, she said something wrong with the chai tea, she waived the tea for me and I did not want to drink the tea any more. I ordered a Lassi in stead of the chai tea. tastes ok, but price was wrong. I asked them again, they said they didn't change the price on the menu book, but the price went up already. I had bad experience at this time. Their food is very delicious but they don?t know what they are missing. I love their Prawn Saag: Prawn shrimp spinach curry. I got Combination Dinner Special for Two $49. One appetizer and two entrees with rice and naan. That was a lot of food! Very delicious and reasonable.

Warning, if you don't eat spice, don't order Chicken Vindaloo and Pepper Chicken Curry; they are spicy, and I love them! The restaurant opens at 5 PM daily, only for dinner. I wish they'd open for lunch. The restaurant is generous enough to take orders before 5 PM and pick up afterwards. The place was full when I went in to pick up my meal. Also, the portions are large enough for two people or two day.
