What Jessica Wong likes about Xochi:
Excellent food and service. I’ve been coming here for years and every dish I’ve had has been consistently great. I’ve been here with adventurous eaters and very picky eaters and the menu has something for everyone! I highly recommend the mole tasting. View all feedback.
What Teppie Tep doesn't like about Xochi:
I spent $45 per person for me and my friend to experience their brunch buffet. It was not worth it. They cut down alot of food. I can just go to a food truck. No more grill oysters and a few main protein. No worth the hype and never coming back again. Their desserts sucks. View all feedback.
Went to Xochi for the second time yesterday after not being too impressed the first time but my niece wanted to try it and I wanted to give it another try. I was not impressed with the food the first time and the second time was no different. The scallop ceviche was not marinated and the scallops were very fishy tasting. My tlayuda was dry, lacked seasoning and overall flavor. It tasted like the components were just placed on the tortilla without any seasoning at all. My wife got a seafood dish that was similar to paella but she said it wasn’t too good and she would never order it again. My niece got chicken mole and she said it was good but it was much better in Mexico. The dishes seem to lack “soul” and seasoning and seem to be more concerned about presentation than flavor. They look nice but completely fall short on flavor. My 2 visits were two years apart and the problem with the food still exists. Doesn’t the chef taste the food? I used to have a food blog and I have been to hundreds of restaurants and other than the presentation, this may be one of the most overrated restaurants that I have seen. I must say that the churros and chocolate were very good!
Lived up to its reputation. The painted cacao bean dessert was a showstopper.
Everything about this restaurant was amazing! The service, appetizers, entrees and desserts were on point. The drink selection was quite nice. I had a margarita on the rocks , so refreshing! The atmosphere was busy but not overly loud! Beautiful restaurant and restrooms were very clean. It's pricey, but exquisite for special occasions! Do yourself a favor and try the chicken in mole, chef's kiss!! ? Vegetarian options: My niece is vegetarian and ordered the hongos entree. She was very pleased with her selection.
The hype is real. Just like other reviewers , I was extremely pleased with the food, service and overall experience. But what I think sets this restaurant apart from other really good restaurants in Houston area is their commitment to keeping high standards. Next day after our visit, I got an email from the manager asking for a feedback on how they could improve things. Mind you this is a very popular eatery with over 3500 positive reviews. They are doing fine. It's great to see that they don't rest on their laurels. Keep up the great work.
They have an extremely great happy hour! Food Drinks were amazeballs!! I will be back!!
