"My family and I have a lot of history with this pub so when I returned to Tas to get married I arranged for my wedding reception to be at the Tavern. Wasn’t planned to be anything major however even organising the bare basics with...the owner was a nightmare. With no time to change venue I stuck it out. I repeatedly needed to ask what would be on the platters he was offering and what quantities. After finally getting an answer we ordered what we needed (not much to chose from, he would blame me for that, and over priced of course On the actual day he told all of my guests they would sit in with the main restaurant and customers. I had to ask for the staff to open the room we had booked. When the food came out it wasn’t what we ordered!!!!! I asked where was the food we ordered and he started making excuses which I politely stopped him and said that I didn’t need to hear it (picture it, I’m standing there in my wedding dress and he’s telling me I didn’t give him enough notice....even though when he took my order he confirmed that’s all I could order given the time frame a time frame which would have been longer if he replied to my msgs! He scoffed at me shook his head and stormed off and I didn’t see him again. My guests needed to call out for bar service as the bar tender kept leaving. The owner then CHASED my elderly grandma out in the car park to ask her to pay. She informed him to speak with the bride and that she needed to take her unwell husband home (my grandfather is dying.. he refused and continued to SHOVE a bill at her. Grandma had already given the money to me to pay, she didn’t want him to be rude to me again and he wasn’t letting her walk to the car so she just went back inside and paid. It was a nightmare and I’m disgusted. Such a beautiful venue seeped in history being run by such an awful person. Very sad for the Tavern."
