Tazediko Tavern from Irakleion Menu

What User likes about Tazediko Tavern:
beautiful small Greek tavern in the heart of heraklion old town, with many other restaurants nearby. somehow it seemed pleasant enough for us to sit and have lunch there. the service was attentive and effective. the food and the wine were good, although the portions were rather small. the prices were appropriate for the location. raki and sweet cherry at the end were a pleasant surprise that complicated our visit. We loved it! best tsatsiki we had on kreta. you have to try the fried zucchini. the personal is very friendly! if they want something Greek (and not overpriced Instagram sites with frappuccinos) they come here!

Really nice place, good food (stuffed vine leaves especially). Seafood risotto made from scratch, very tasty.

The food this place offers is quite tasty, as my octopus was well grilled and seasoned, and served with salad and mashed potatoes, however I have a minor and a major complaint. The portion size of fried calamari that my father ordered was a bit small and also came far too late to the point I had to ask the waiter about when the calamari would be done cooking (I finished the octopus at that point). The knives they give you as part of your cutlery are flat edged saw knives which made cutting through the octopus impossible because the edges of the plate prevented me from doing so and small bits were still attached to the octopus after having to tear off the part I wanted to cut off, this isn't a problem with softer foods such as moussaka.

The food was nice, however we waited almost two hours to get it and the portions were somewhat small for the size. If the place was packed or there would have been communication about this, it would have been one thing but there was no indication and we even saw people next to us leave due to the long waiting time.
