The restaurant was closed during my visit, but if you love being in the kitchen, or know someone who does, Books for Cooks is a must-visit. Although tiny, cookery books line the walls to the ceiling. I went, with great eagerness, for my first post- Covid visit, with a long list of books I wanted to buy, and the anticipation of a nice meal in the cafe. I was disappointed on both counts: the shop is poorly stocked, and the one rather off-hand assistant had no knowledge of the books available, or where things might be located.
