"What a beautiful shop, fantastic for gifts.... Very friendly and helpful staff too. They have a beautiful selection of velvet bags, lots of interesting books to buy, and my favourites, bunnies and little fluffy animals made by Kelly cat. A fantastic shop to go into and browse, lots of Christmas items to purchase, and a wonderful coffee shop to pop into, once you have made your purchases."

"Absolutely appalling customer service from the owner. For the past 5 months, we 've enjoyed our time at the pub – great food and excellent staff, except for the owner. However, my recent experience was highly disappointing. I ordered a children 's chicken dinner for my dog, which the bar staff confirmed was fine and in a joking manner, advising me not to feed her from the plate When the meal arrived, I placed it in a dog bowl and began cutting it into smaller pieces. The owner 's response was completely unacceptable. She shouted across the bar, making me uncomfortable, and then came within inches of my face to drill me for what I’ve done, telling me I’m not in my living room. A piece of advice for Sophia: treat the locals as kindly as you do the tourists. If two staff members told me it was okay to feed my dog, there 's no reason to shout at me. And for those still reading this review, be cautious about sitting before 6 pm. She approached us at 5:50, cleared the menu we were reading for our 6pm order. She proceeded to inform us this table is now reserved and then pointed out 5 other tables we also can’t sit at. She eventually allowed us to sit at the table under the T.V. We ended up eating there, only for her to remove the reserved sign from our original table and casually remark, You could have sat there, oh well. I don 't know how things are done in Spain, but here in the UK, we value kindness, especially when you 're representing your own business. Sincerely, Louis x"

"One of only a few places in Kirkcudbright that has a restaurant, which is sad really. The service is ok, the food is good, reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and tentative. "4 of us ate here on Friday and Saturday evening during the Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival. The people are very friendly, helpful and accommodating.The food is excellent, tasty and plentiful. We would definitely recommend this place and will be calling in again when next in the area."

"What is changed and improved for a fab by the new property, which is like a breath of fresh air. huge improvements in the menu including welcome vegan and gluten-free options. the portions were generous and tasty. the personal was really attentive and great to see it so busy at the januar weekend. we'll be back soon!"

"Celebrated a birthday on 16th June '23 and we were not disappointed. Service was very good and food was amazing. We must have been lucky, we phoned for a table just the night before and got one. The prices were great too! Thank you Will Gill for cooking such a lovely meal for me and my husband and thank you also to the lovely young waitress who worked her socks off in such intense heat! "Amazing eating in mr pook’s kitchen! all our dishes were absolutely amazing! I have to say I have tasted my friends scallops and I was a bit jealous, but my krabb tortellini were also good. the ochs-heads I had were a hit and a surprisingly large amount of food. the meat was excellently cooked, you didn't need a knife. if they are looking for an alcoholic drink, the gin tonic combinations they have are their best choice, especially the bramble and honey combination!"
