This was a contemporary version of Yum Cha. Dishes were selected from a menu and brought out a la carte rather than selecting from a trolley. I find this was to be better as you receive fresher food (rather than been on the trolley for an extended period of time) and easier to budget too. Food was fresh and delicious and got try a good sample of the menu. The service was excellent as well. View all feedback.
Great place! Clean restaurant, good service and fantastic food! I also used my Liven App here and got us a $50 bonus. Was there with my son and will be back for sure!
We had delivery tonight from Bokchoy Tang and our choice was so right! Food came on time and super tasty. Although their Lemon chicken was a bit lack of flavor(didnt see any sauce), we still enjoyed a lot. Especially the sweet and sour spare ribs, so delicious and addictive!
Bokchoy Tang has been around for a while now. Here it has been reviewed for outstanding Asian food by various blogs like Jeroxie etc. So when I got the Age Good Food Card I thought that I would give this a shot. I had seen the place before. It is clean and up two flights of stairs. Spring rolls close up
Located at on level 3 Federation Square and one of the recommended restaurant on Good Food Guide. I had the 'yum Cha ' menu and ordered the house special fried rice, spicy crispy squid, and Chili pork wonton $6.80 pretty small serving. The fried rice $13.50 is little bland though it looks good! My fav of all is the crispy squid $12.80, generous portion and tasty. Service was friendly, restaurant space is great for big family and baby friendly. But won 't be back as we are spoiled by many top both Asian restaurants in the CBD.
My babes and I were looking for a place to eat dinner at in the city before Sam Smith 's second concert at Rod Laver Arena. We parked near Flinders Street but couldn 't find anything we felt like eating at or that didn 't require a half hour wait for a table. Our last option was Federation Square where we spotted a Chinese restaurant, which wasn 't very busy, called Bokchoy Tang at the top of one of the buildings. We were both very hungry at this stage of the night so we ordered Chilli Pork Wontons, Wuxi Style Pork Spare Ribs, XO Scallops and Special Fried Rice with Pork Prawn to share. I bought a Tsing Tao for my drink and my babes ordered a Booboo 's Special Mocktail for hers. The Chilli Pork Wontons were served 15 minutes after ordering. I found the pork wontons were cooked well but lacked flavour and the chilli oil could 've been more spicy for my liking. An okay start to our dinner but I hoped our mains would deliver more of what we were expecting. The Special Fried Rice with Pork Prawn was served a few minutes later. Luckily we were hungry because it was a large serving even shared between the two of us. The small chunks of pork were delicious but I was most surprised by the prawns which were larger and fresher than the shrimps I 've usually seen in special fried rice dishes at other restaurants. The XO Scallops that my babes ordered came next. The first thing I noticed was not only the amount of scallops we were served but the size of them. They were larger than scallops I 've had at other restaurants and very firm to bite into which shows how fresh and well cooked they are. The large portion of broccoli on the side was steamed well but unfortunately the sauce was a let down. I associate at least a bit of spice when I see XO sauce on the menu but this dish lacked it. Although disappointed, I still enjoyed it overall.Lastly my Wuxi Style Pork Spare Ribs were served. I 'm not familiar with 'Wuxi Style ' so I didn 't know what to expect but I knew I was happy with my decision from my first bite into the meat on one of the ribs. The tender pork meat, covered in a sweet red sauce, was delicious and perfectly cooked. The steamed Bok Choy was a nice touch to balance out the dish and I loved the fried bao, which I used to dip into the left over sauce once I finished the ribs. The most disappointing part of our meal was my babes Booboo 's Special Mocktail. The mocktail, containing Pineapple, Orange and Lemon juices with some sparkling water and bitters, was sour and a little too bitter for the both of us.My babes and I really enjoyed our pre-concert dinner. Overall delicious meals, much better service than other Chinese restaurants and not a bad view of the sunset over the square ensured a great start to a fun night. So much so that if we were near Federation Square again, and felt like a good Chinese dinner, we wouldn 't hesitate in returning to Bokchoy Tang.
