Fabulous meal with friends 27th Nov 2023). Lively and buzzing atmosphere on a Monday night . Excellent service . All 4 of us ordered different meals and two of us altered the meal offered on the menu . All means were excellent , and very good portion size. Great to see such a successful pub serving wonderful food when so many are skimping , charging more and losing the identity they used to be . Many are closing . We... View all feedback.
What asgard1957 doesn't like about Station:
Went here for an Anniversary meal after reading the 5 star reviews and I can only think that the staff got all their family members to write the reviews. It has to be the worst meal I’ve ever had. The salt and pepper chicken must have been plunged into the spice before cooking. There was far too much spice on the chicken and it was overwhelming and I couldn’t eat it. I complained to the waiter but all he said was (I’... View all feedback.

Well, they should take a leaf out of The Station at Caton’s book as a good example of how to keep customers returning . I have visited this hotel for lunch and dinner and it is always a high standard . We will return for sure
My goodness, what a lovely time we've just had at The Station Hotel in Caton. Spacious, olde world environment; background music that is in the background and absolutely delicious food. Two main courses and a coke for under £40. Vegetables were exceptional. We both had Lamb Henry.
Was out with friends for a mid week tea, quick service and good atmosphere in the pub, surprised with the size of the menu plenty to choose from and good for groups, massive portions and quality of the food was good Deffo recommend for a dinner /lunch
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here. Both had roast lamb dinner at £18.95 seemed a little steep, so, expectations were high. The generous portion of lamb was lovely, as too weee the mash, roasts and Yorkshire pud. The highlight really were the creamed leeks with bacon, and the carrot swede lovely! We opted for a portion of cauliflower cheese at an extra £3.50, which was ok, but the cheese seemed to be mozzarella so little flavour, a decent cheddar would have helped make it great. Our only gripe though was the gravy. It was very nice, but quite sparing in portion, so I requested done extra, then was surprised at it being an extra £1.50 on the bill. I’ve never been charged extra for gravy before when eating Sunday lunch, in fact an awful lot of places offer extra when serving as it’s such an integral part of the meal. It won’t stop us returning though, as overall it was very good.
The Station accommodated our large group and, as usual, the quality of the food was excellent. I ordered the salmon fettucine, while many others in our group enjoyed the highly-rated hanging tandooris. Although there was a bit of a wait for our food, it arrived all at once since we were such a large party (almost 20 people).
