Atmospheric old coaching inn in the centre of Lewes. Not busy for a Friday lunch perhaps some of the reviews on here have put people off. We were very pleasantly surprised though. I called in here to get a meal it was just after 6pm. Several staff were hanging around the doorway chatting. When I interrupted I was told restaurant does not start service until 6.30 bar meals start at 6. I asked to be shown to the bar. I then had to request the same person show me a menu. The current list of dishes may be expanded on site to include seasonal specialties and weekly recommendations. In addition to a variety of menus, the menu also offers a selection of beverages and typical house dishes. Additionally, the list of dishes also takes into account dishes and ingredients that have been positively highlighted by guests, even if these have not yet been listed.
