"We had visited Stone Henge for the day, it was late, the kids were hungry and tired and all the chain restaurants we had tried to get into were fully booked. I was stressing out and this restaurant saved the day! They were able to...accommodate us at extremely short notice. We were a large party of of those small kids. We were so thankful and pleased to come here. They don’t do a kids menu. The kids can have anything off the menu, just a smaller portion which I liked as kids can sometimes get a poor deal with the usual chicken nuggets and fish fingers as options. All the food was delicious: pizzas and pastas. Although I had to agree with other reviews, the service is a little slow. (This wouldn’t have bothered me if I hadn’t have had the tired kids with us). There is also free car parking at the back."

"Very friendly staff, warm welcome. Lovely food, beautifully presented and very tasty. Was a busy Saturday night with the a packed pub but service was excellent. New VEGAN menu was tried out by our vegan daughter who was very complimentary about the variety of different options and the quality of the food. Recommended."

"There are around 700 red lion pubs in Great Britain, but if they want a real food look, we recommend to them the head for the in east chisenbury, wiltshire. when they do that they do not expect to have the pub to themselves, but because the secret (how good it is) spreads quickly, so that on the occasion of our visit there the place was revived during the Sunday lunch and dinner service. there are many reasons why the red lion should be so popular, but let us now stick to the food. the red lion is led by guy and britt manning, an anglo-American couple who met while both at thomas keller’s per se worked in new york. this was clearly a vintage period for per se, because it was when james scarett and sandia chang of bubbledogs were there (and also come together) like tom sellers of story. before per se worked guy with bruce poole at chez bruce. it is easy to see why this red lion is not like other red lions when it comes to eating. in and beyond the kitchen they have a philosophy that t"

"Wanted to have a dinner above the ordinary but without having to empty my bank account. The Royal Oak helped me achieve both in spades. A fairly short menu cleverly covered so much ground and was so well laid out that my vegetarian and lactose intolerant dinner guest, firstly had choices and secondly did not have to discuss it with the staff as it was all clear to see. Enormously satisfying food, very willing staff, great location and a wonderful building. Well worth seeking out regardless of whether you are a Top Gear fan or not."
