We visited Darwin for 6 nights to see family for Xmas - we stayed nearby at Club Tropical Resort on Lee Point Road. Tracy Village is very old - I recall coming to bingo here with Mum as a child in the 1970’s and it looking much the same, except for the modern addition of poker machines. I am a proud Tracey Village Member. Not for the sports - not for the pokie machines (which are very popular), but for the access to the restaurant. The meal selection is typical sports club. But the steak is always well cooked, the snitzels are huge, I can recommend the Crumbed Lamb cutlets, and - for the budget conscious or the senior looking to get out for a night with the old gang - try the Sunday Roast for only $... "Smith Street Social is a beautiful venue with a lot of potential, but it seems like both the staff and kitchen don't cope under pressure. There was a function on upstairs so I maybe they put all their effort there to ensure the people upstairs had a great night. Unfortunately if they can't successfully run the core business at the same time as a function, they're better off just doing one or the other. We'd booked a table, but waited a long time to even speak to a staff member to find out where our table was. The staff seemed awkward, inexperienced, and reluctant to be there I didn't see any one of them smile at us or any other customer. Our meals took 50 minutes to come out and at no point during that time did anyone communicate with us that the wait would be so long. The barra was decent, but the burger arrived cold and very dry. Basically: I wouldn't recommend. There's too many great pubs and restaurants and even food trucks in Darwin to spend 50 minutes and $26 for a cold dry burger from unsmiling staff."
