"We came as a family last Sunday and couldn’t believe how cute the little building was on the outside and transported you back in time when you stepped into the tea parlour. Our host was Stacey who was really friendly, funny and attentive. We decided to go get a selection of the classic afternoon tea and savoury afternoon tea- both were so tasty and made to order. The bread for the sandwiches was so soft, the fillings especially the egg mayonnaise was creamy and not eggy in the slightest. The cheese scones and pork pie were delightful too (Stacey told their secret to making the cheese scones so light and fluffy). The onion marmalade was so moorish we ended up buying a bottle to take home. The classic afternoon tea was also delicious with everything being well presented, sweet but not too sweet and plentiful (we took a doggy bag home). The presentation of our afternoon teas was lovely and we loved the china as it dates back from the early 1900s and some from the mid-late 1800s. I have to say that this is the best afternoon tea I’ve had in the U.K. and after travelling and living abroad. It is definitely worth booking going, you won’t regret it and I can’t wait to go back!"

"We had read good things about Chapter One Bistro and as we were travelling to Whitby we decided to stop off and have a late breakfast. We were welcomed warmly and seated where we ordered coffee and a full English. It was well priced and a very good portion size. The gluten free sausages were exceptional. It was worth stopping and we will definitely visit again when in the area."

"A lovely little place our family stumbled across whilst visiting for the day. Food is exceptional and the service is really good. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus for us. My elderly mum was with us and said it was one of the nicest places she had been to in ages. Really helpful manager Andrew returned lost property to me through the post not many people would do that! This place is a gem and we would definitely go out of our way to go again."
