I have been up and down the coast savoring the chowders of Nova Scotia. By the Dock of the Bay Cafe has the best! Chocked full of mussels, scallops, white fish, and other yummy ingredients. Try it you'll like it!! The Cafe is an unassuming little beach/wharf side restaurant, maybe 4 tables inside and 3 or 4 outside. Closed during the off season, so catch it quick! read more.

What Arthur Ledoux doesn't like about The Dock of the Bay Cafe:
Popped in for supper recently and had the chowder (flavourful but not very thick) and some fish (1 pc) and fries. The piece of fish was very small and the chef came right out with another piece for us (it was his idea!). That was appreciated. read more.

I'm a bit confused by these two restaurants being grouped togetherIt appears that they're in the same building but have different menus.

"I didn't expect it to feel like such a bar but whatever. Service was good. Server hit all the check marks, friendly, checked to see the food was good/correct, and refilled drinks without being asked. Only disappointment was the the price did not match the portion. Didn't quite feel like we got our moneys worth. Maybe that comes with a smaller town, dunno."

"Dempseys eck obstgartens is without doubt one of the best places to visit if they like the idea of choosing their own products. the price to enter is super reasonable $5) and the people there are super friendly. the obstgarten itself is a pretty big and so they have to take wheel cars. the floor is not always so if they also want to put small children in the car, make sure that an old deck for upholstery as the cars are metal. there are also activities for the children. the variety of apples is impressive and I do not think that the 5 dollar actually covers what we have eaten, but the price at the cash register for the apples we have, essentially everything we could lift was under 20.00 including a quantity of honey-headed apples. this is one of those places they will remember for a very long time. it's a bit a car from halifax, but that's what it's worth."
