Friendly sfaff, nice atmosphere sitting outside, very relaxing. Strong local food offerings, lovely meals and wine (recommended). Large portions for salads, we could have shared one and generous mains. We left fully sated and satified with our choices. We arrived in Matera around 3pm in a sunny Tuesday and we were starving as we skipped lunch but we did not want to go to a restaurant for a complete Italian mea...

Excellent chicken meal, wine was exceptional, service was superb and ambiance was great. We found it by chance, but would thoroughly recommend it.

"A very pleasant interior and interesting menu. I enjoyed carpaccio of beef to start and a fusilli pasta as my main course, which was a little cold when it arrived. My wife chose a bean purée and “chicory” starter which was very salty, followed by octopus which was dry and needed a sauce to accompany it. The restaurant was busy with a limited number of menus. So, it took quite a while to actually get a menu. Only one of the wait staff spoke English and not very well which is unusual these days. There were a number of diners, including myself, who asked for a beer prior to ordering and all of us were served a beer without a glass. I eventually prevailed on the one waiter who spoke English to bring a glass. Other diners gave up and drank from the bottle. Hilarious but most unusual! All in all, I would say that the wait staff were earnest but not as experienced as we would expect from a restaurant rated as highly as it is."
