City: Buchs (SG) (near Mels), Unterstuedtlistrasse 16, 9470, Buchs (SG), Switzerland
"This traditional, regional Swiss eatery with a contemporary spin sits just across the Rhine from Liechtenstein. We sat outside beneath a vine-draped canopy until a cool August wind (and later rain! drove us into the converted barn which is the Öpfelblom restaurant. Karen and I opted for the traditional Zürigeschnetzeltes (veal with Rösti (a sort of Swiss hash brown which was absolutely delicious! My sorbet (swimming in vodka would have been a problem had I been driving… especially as I'd had a couple of the excellent Liechtensteiner Brauhaus beers beforehand. We were treated by our friend… I think the bill came to about 100CHF each. Not cheap, but then Switzerland isn't. Highly recommended!"

"We had a good dinner here. There was a good selection of game specialties. The portions are large and you can also get seconds if you want. The service was very nice. The prices are very fair. The ambience is a mix between a village pub and a chic restaurant. If you are in Landquart, you can eat very well here."

City: Sargans (near Mels), Bahnhofstrasse 1, 7320 Sargans, Switzerland, Swiss Confederation
"We were not at the post office, we went there. During our first visit, my wife and I had baked Schnitzel with an enormous amount of French fries. In the second night of our stay in Sargans, I gedimt and had the Dark Seoul from their Asian menu. From the description I suspected that this would be a relatively easy meal of chicken meat and would stir fried vegetables. I was withdrawn to see something that approached the table that looked like a big pig roast. It was indeed, chicken breast, cut and formed in a protocol, all in a crispy golden coating. The Veges surrounded it and were dressed a very heavy sweet and acidic sauce with some heat on it. It was delicious, but much too much for a person. Maybe the menu suggested it as a community dish and I missed this note! The Hotel Post Restaurant is certainly worth a visit."
