"My family and I visited Marybrooke Manor for my birthday several weeks ago, as we were looking for somewhere special to spend the afternoon having a High Tea. The setting of the Manor is beautiful, and we enjoyed the drive there and looking at the...beautiful gardens, and we arrived at the restaurant with high expectations. We were, however, extremely disappointed with our experience of the afternoon. We were shown to our table in the restaurant, amongst the diners there for a Sunday pub type lunch, and were then left alone for 10 15 minutes without an explanation of how the afternoon would unfold or what we could expect. After sitting and waiting for this time, we eventually found a waitress to clarify when our food would be coming and how to get our drinks etc. What followed was a series of minor events that in total, equated to a not overly enjoyable dining experience. Firstly, the drinks, rather than being brought to your table, were self serve from a buffet style table of several different varieties of tea. All other drinks were at an additional cost. The tea itself was lovely, however there was no hot water or milk with the tea bags. Instead of this being brought to the table promptly, every time we required hot water we needed to head to the bar to try and find a waitress to fetch a jug of boiling water for us. This was also the case with the milk. Often, there was not enough milk or hot water for all of us at one time, and so we would need to return for more. The hot water was also not freshly boiled and had clearly been left sitting in the jug for some time, meaning our cups of tea were lukewarm, and we had to return the jug to ask for boiling water. Secondly, the table itself was not cleared for us. As each cup of tea required a new tea bag for each of us, the clutter on the table quickly built up. We only had one saucer to put our used tea bags on, and this quickly filled up. On several occasions, we had to take this saucer ourselves over to the bar to remove it from the table, and to ask for another one to put the next lot of used tea bags on. At one point, we couldn 't find anyone and simply had to stack the tea bags on the table, and ate with the used tea bags surrounding us. The food itself was also somewhat of a disappointment and it certainly wasn 't up to the standard we were hoping for. From our table, we were in close proximity to several other parties who were dining in the restaurant, and it was apparent that they were not enjoying themselves and believed the food and service to be below par. Both parties spoke to the waitresses serving, and we could hear them discussing their disappointment amongst themselves, and one pair even came to ask us if we were enjoying our afternoon, as they thought the service we were receiving was not acceptable. We sympathised with both waitresses, as they were extremely busy sharing the service of the whole restaurant between the two of them for the afternoon, and understand other staff were setting up for a wedding in another room. The waitresses were both extremely friendly and polite, however they simply had too many people to provide the service justice for everyone in the restaurant. Two waitresses simply were not enough for the restaurant. The waitress we spoke to about our concerns at the end of the afternoon was very understanding and took on board our feedback. Having been lucky enough to have had quite a few High Tea experiences in the last few years, I feel it is not only the food but the whole dining experience being waited on, enjoying leisurely cups of tea and not needing to lift a finger for the afternoon as your food and drinks come out that makes a High Tea what it is. Unfortunately, I feel that Marybrooke Manor missed the point of the whole afternoon tea experience, and simply provided the food and drinks for the afternoon. Whilst we were able to see the 'Fawlty Towers esque ' humour of the situation and therefore still managed to enjoy ourselves, I felt disappointed for my Mum, who had spent time trying to find a special place for the family to enjoy my birthday. I would happily accept and expect an experience like this for 20 or even up to 25 dollars per person, however we all felt that at 40 dollars per head, the quality of the food and service we received was not up to standard, and we did not at all receive value for money. I would be expecting a real treat for that price, and to be well looked after by the staff. I feel this experience was much better suited to something of a lower price, where I would be happier to serve myself and play a more active role in the afternoon, and to be seated amongst people there for a pub lunch. I do believe there is potential for this to be a lovely experience given the picturesque setting, however I would not recommend visiting here for an afternoon tea based on the experience we had there. Of the dozen or so High Teas I have experienced, this was easily my least enjoyable."

"Okay went there for a weekend meal and had the triple threat; Hainan Chiken rice, char kway teow and Nasi lemak. the latter two were pretty good, pretty much what you'd expect from a good Malaysian place. If you like those dishes you can't go wrong here if you're just out to get a feed and not be disappointed. The chicken rice was lovely and well-cooked AND the sauce that came with it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Clearly they make their won but with a difference. I only eat this dish because of the balance of flavour brought by the sauce and most places either use bottle versions or make a simple version of it themselves. I think theses guys have a secret recipe and it works. Yummy!"

"A well located restaurant in the outer east. Excellent menu. We tried 3 dishes, all of which were excellent. Young children are well looked after, hence the many new mums enjoying a midweek brunch. Parking is tricky, so use the hotel car park across the road. Overall a pleasant family meal. Recommended."

"I have eaten and ordered so many times last year from this restaurant, and every time that food has been consistently delicious and freshly cooked. eating is cheap and the portions are good. there is a large number of vegan curries on their menu (all marked) and all their rice dishes, as well as full grains, can also be made vegan. the owner/Koch is always very friendly and I still have a bad experience with this restaurant. I would give it five stars, but unfortunately happy cow only allows them to give them a whole five stars full of vegetarian/vegan restaurants."

City: Doncaster East (near Mount Evelyn), 261- 265 Blackburn Rd, Doncaster East, Manningham, Victoria 3109, Australia
"Kobe Teppanyaki situated in the office building shop 7 261 265 Blackburn Road, Doncaster East. You hardly miss this place cause it 's located in the office building and you 'll see the Kobe Teppanyaki sign. It might be a challenge to travel using Public Transport but...no worries by private vehicle because there are plenty underground car parks available in the building; We 're glad to be invited by Kobe Team to have the Teppanyaki experience. The restaurant was really spacious, clean and neat; It has two sections according to your preference whether you want to have Teppanyaki or A La Carte. We came on the weekend around 7.30 PM and it was so busy full of people celebrating many occasions on the teppanyaki section. The customer service was attentive and friendly; Both chef and customer staff were very professional to ensure to you have or don 't have any allergic or dietary requirements. They 're really concerned with health and safety food delivery. Kobe Teppanyaki offers different teppanyaki set according to your preference. Kobe Set: combination of different proteins chicken, beef seafood Tatsuta Age Deep Fried Chicken Kaisen Set: combination of seafood Prawn, Scallops, Squid, Salmon Tokyo Set: combination of different proteins chicken, beef seafood Wagyu Set: combination of beef seafood Premium Wagyu Beef, Lobster, Scallop Salmon Yasai Set Vegetarian : Eggplant, Tofu, Mushroom, Vegetable Tempura During our visit, we 're advised by the manager to have Kobe Set. Each teppanyaki table consists between 6 8 people, we 're being looked after by the friendly, funny and nice chef Howard. One of the good thing about having teppanyaki is to make new friends and enjoy the show from the skillful chef. The entree dishes Miso Soup, Salad Tatsuta Age Deep Fried Chicken and our drinks came first while the chef was still preparing the cooking and heating up the teppanyaki cooktop. We ordered Japanese Sunset orange juice, apple juice, raspberry and Virgin Pina Colada coconut, pineapple juice . Both mocktail drinks had a fantastic and amazing taste; Not only the taste but the presentation was also appealing, we 've got couple questions from other guests asking about what drinks we had LOL : We had good first impression on their entree dish fried chicken. It was crispy and crunchy from the outside, perfectly cooked from the inside. It wasn 't greasy and well seasoned; As soon as we finished our entree, we couldn 't wait to find out our teppanyaki main highlights seafood, chicken beef . To begin the teppanyaki show, the chef cooked the garlic and this made us really hungry due to the fragrance coming from fried garlic. Ohhh each of you will be getting two dipping sauces: Citrus Soy which 's perfect companion for seafood and Sesame dipping sauce for chicken and beef. The chef would offer you Spicy Mayo this is so good!! on the side if you want to add extra spicy flavour. The chef cooked Prawn, Sakana Fish and Teriyaki Chicken altogether into one teppanyaki cooktop. The prawn, Sakana Basa Fish and Chicken were perfectly grilled and well seasoned. Both Basa fish and Teriyaki chicken were so tender and juicy. The taste was really rich and flavourful. For the steak, We asked for Medium Rare Steak and it was perfectly grilled as we asked. The steak was very juicy and good quality; Hmm we 're just wondering how good would that be if you choose the Premium Wagyu Set???!! The chef totally nailed all the protein dishes. After having all heavy dishes, we had the grilled seasonal vegetables with bean sprouts, mushrooms, carrots and spinach. Finally, we had fried rice; We 're so entertained while he was preparing the fried rice. It 's the game time where you need to catch the bowl of fried rice. Mr.Epi didn 't manage to keep up with the game; he ruined the game and dropped the fried rice on the floor ... He felt bad to have the customer staff cleaning the floor On the other hand, Miss.Epi managed to catch the bowl though almost dropped it!! LOL There is always a place for a dessert Ice Cream Black Sesame, Green Tea, Vanilla, Red Bean We opted for the black sesame and green tea. The ice cream was really delicious, creamy and not too sweet! Love both black sesame and green tea. Overall, we had such an amazing night to have teppanyaki experience in Kobe Teppanyaki. We 'd definitely come back when we 're around this area and recommend this place to our friends. Note: We’d like to say thank you to Kobe Teppanyaki’s team for having us. Disclaimer: Honest opinions expressed here are purely on our own and are based on our experience at that time YAY: Kobe Set NAY: Fried Rice was slightly lack of seasoning Taste: 4.5 Service: 5.0"
