"My wife and I visited the Habesha with friends for dinner.I must be honest here, that I wouldn't have picked an Ethiopian restraint and really didn't know what to expect.Luckily our friends had been a few times and we let them pick all the nights meals.The staff were friendly and it was a surprise when the waitress came around with the wash basin and a warm pitcher of water. We all washed our hands and I realized then and there that there was not cutlery on the table.The food was very nice as we all tucked in with our hands and the bread which was more like a crape. The food was similar to Indian if you like spice. My wife and I love spice, so we were very happy.The food was very filling and quiet reasonably prices, the only negatives being the size of the restraint and the staff hurrying us up for the next sitting. This was very disappointing as we haven't see these friends for quiet a while."

"My husband and I were strolling through the city trying to find somewhere nice to eat and we happened upon The Basement on Market St. What a great discovery! This place emits a wonderful ambience from the cozy heaters on arrival, the cool non intrusive music, the sensational food, to the attentive wait staff (Lewis was particularly welcoming) this place has it all. Highly recommend. More places like this in the East End please!"

"We passed on bog during the night in Newcastle and are looking for somewhere to eat breakfast. The staff was very friendly and competent. They make most of their Moroccan oriented food on the grounds. Delicious and the coffee was super best we had on the way in 2 weeks."

"Everyone has given such great reviews. I think I must have come on a bad night as I wasn't impressed at all. I like the location as it has some interest but the decor was a bit lacking. The food we had as a group I could do a better job at home. Not what I was looking for when going out. Regardless.. a good night was had here by all."
