"It feels like you are coming into Dan and Caitlin's home when you come here. They are very wonderful hosts, and you are greeted warmly when you come in the door. They are the only place in town to get a latte or espresso. They also have ice cream in the summer, which is perfect if you're going to the park. They have a great location right downtown beside the Thrift Shop, Museum and Paddle to the Sea Park and splash pad. The food is different here - not for everyone - but if you want something different or if you are vegetarian this is the place to eat in Nipigon. They are also a bakery - their fresh buns and ginger cookies are my favourites. They also sell local art, coffee, and souvenirs which is cool. Dan is an avid rock climber so if you want recommendations about where to climb in the area, ask him!"

"I love these place. The vegetables were super fresh, the deep fried pieces were perfectly crispy and not oily or greasy and the rice was full of flavour, not bland and tasteless. I will be heading back again and again!"

"We made a stop at this restaurant for take-out lunch during our road trip to Thunder Bay back in summer 2020. I kept telling myself to write a review for them when I got back home but ended up forgetting until now when I am about to make another long road trip. This restaurant was pretty decent given the location. They gave big portion, and the owner was quite friendly. To us, their food definitely helped with our cravings for Chinese cuisine after many days of backcountry camping between Michipicoten and Thunder Bay."

"Ducky's Diner, you had me at 2 PLY TOILET PAPER!! I didn't eat in a local restaurant that felt so welcomed. We felt like we were eating at a family meeting. Good. The best food for your hard-earned money!! The waitress/hole made sure we enjoy every bite. Without pushing them into bed. The portions were enough for us to travel our remaining 5 hours of OHNE, who stop eating or even reach for these Munchies. The food is uniquely named and very delicious. If you are looking for something outstanding, you need to see STOP and Ducky's Diner for yourself!"

"This place will do for the night if you don't have another option, as it is clean, but the bed needs to be replaced in cabin 5-sagged towards the middle. I thought we might have a nice view, judging from the online picture, but our view was a back alley. Nice to have a stove to cook breakfast on and lots of dishes."

"We were looking for a quick meal at the end of a long driving day and wanted table service but nothing fancy. The Nipigon Esso has a couple of fast food counters on one side and a family restaurant on the other. It did not...look too busy, so there we went. What a mistake! While the food when it arrived was OK the waitress was the worst we have ever experienced. We most definitely felt like we were an inconvenience for her, along with the other customers in the restaurant as few as they were. She argued with my order until I read from the menu, then did not get the order correct. Much sighing and rolling of eyes as she flounced back to get the cutlery she had neglected to bring earlier. No coffee refills, even when asked. We were not asked if we wanted dessert, and to be honest we really just wanted out of there. It was not a pleasant or enjoyable visit. Was she being forced to work here? Why would the management retain such an employee? We watched as she was equally rude and neglectful to everyone there. We were coming to the end of a month cross Canada driving trip and had visited a lot of family restaurants along the way. Come on Nipigon Esso Restaurant you can do better! Fire this young woman and let her get on with her life somewhere else. Then train and supervise your new staff."
