Called in as was over seeing family who live local and we couldn’t travel back to the Wirral without having had Grimsby fish and chips. They were due to close in 15 minutes but never felt rushed. We called in for tea around 4pm and both had fish,chips mushy peas.The chips were fine, peas a rather small portion but the fish was no were near the quality of previous visits ?? Fish was grey and firm not white/flakey as usual.Will orobably leave it a while before returning...Shame really. read more.

Went to Russell's chippy today , fish and chips x 4, takeaway, probably go once a fortnight as this is a 16 mile round trip from Keelby, it's our first time sin...

"Perhaps it was a bad day but neither of us thought this was very good, certainly not excellent. The service of the waitresses could not be faulted, the drinks and bread and butter arrived very quickly but we seemed to wait a long time for...our haddock and chips, not their fault. The fish was not as good as some we have had recently from other places and the batter was a little thick and not as crispy as we would have liked. It was very hot, which was a plus point."

"Great hospitality from Nigel and his staff who made sure we were comfortable and happy. Lovely pint and our meals were absolutely superb. Great value, had Sunday diner, proper fresh veg perfectly cooked, meat was fantastic and again cooked to perfection. Also the proper pie was wonderful and great portions. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, thank you."
