"Great pub in a small Northumberland village serving traditional fare. My partner had scampi whilst I opted for the fish and chips, fish was fresh in a crisp batter with excellent home made chips. For desert we had lemon posset definitely made on the premises and a raspberry white chocolate roulade. Beer was excellent variety of real ales to choose from. £55 all in with 3 pints. If you're in the area looking for good honest food definitely be a place to call in at. Be back when we're back up in beautiful Northumberland countryside."

"My wife and I spend about 3 months in northumberland, visit a series of beauty spots, historical sites and equally important to look for great restaurants. our internet research and talks with locals led us to the old boat house in...Amble to lunch. the location of the restaurant (right on the coast) and near a series of interesting huts that houses a lot of objects was immediately attractive. this was given by entering into the restaurant and a very warm welcome by the staff and a table directly on the harbour. all very positiw, but this was just the prelude for some amazing food. we chose the common seafood plate – a huge wooden tablet with a whole lobster, perfectly cooked sea crumbs, lindisfarne oysters, roll mop herings, smoked makrele, hot cold smoked salmon, shetland mussels and delicious broken fish goujons roy pawns with delicious freshly baked freshly baked we would have stopped (should) after this amazing display of delicious food, but we ended the order of desserts – they were also delicious and glad that we did not leave. we can recommend a visit to the old boat house for a culinary extravaganza!"

"My daughters took me here for afternoon tea as a birthday treat. There were 3 adults and two children, as soon as the lady serving saw the kids she was off. She made it very difficult about where to place the high chair and made my daughter feel very awkward. All other customers were offered a top up of coffee and tea but we had to ask, after repeatedly being ‘overlooked’. The food was amazing but we did not feel welcome and the service, most definitely was not friendly. Dogs are welcome but not children apparently."

"Took my mother here for lunch today. The barman was very friendly and helpful. We both had Tuscan chicken and chips and it was delicious best chips I've ever had. Had a good walk along the coast afterwards."

"Coffee and tea business with grocery store. They make baked goods and meals that keep them in the freezer that are almost all gluten-free. We bought almost all gf meals and each was delicious and made for easy vacation dinner without cooking. The Gf Quiches are also delicious. Sometimes they also have Gf baked goods and delicious cheeses."
