My husband and I were in New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year and loved the NOLA signature cocktail - the Sazerac. Not many places in Ottawa offer this drink but I'd heard that this place does, so we went in just to have one. I had great hopes for Mason Dixon when I came by for lunch. There was smoke in the air, and I expected hickory or other charred taste in the meat that I would be served. Unfortunately, everything was out. The “smoked brisket sandwich” was basically a...Sloppy Joe on a hamburger back, all sweet sauce and no smokiness infusing the chopped, delicate meat.
