"That was nice to eat. at the beginning we had cooked the beer and cheddar soup and the cuddles in the beer. this was served with some broth and homemade butter with salt and crumble from their garden. it was a fantastic start as all three items were perfect. for our main we had the lamb 'pee' with savoyen kohl, dauphinoise kartoffeln, lambskin and minze sauce and the bark meat with chips and bone marrow. everything was very good. if there was a thing that I would have changed for myself, it would be a little less salt in the lamb engraving and I think I preferred the cake to be a little less packed with meat. the crust of the torte was excellent and the mince sauce was better than any mince sauce I had. the bark was excellent, cooked medium rarely at the choice of the chef and while my partner felt that the bone mark was too rich for him, I could polish off what he could not eat. all in all it was a great meal. would recommend."

"Was just brilliant! From the service to the food! 10/10 from us! Menu has a great selection of meals and a lovely variety. Portions are generous and equal the value of the meals. Staff are lovely and friendly and nothing is to much to ask for. Cant wait to be back"

"One of the best to earth, feel good place to eat brunch in this land. no idea whether the breakfast was healthy or not, but was delicious and the coffee is worth going to miles. zelda enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. not sure about the dry toilet. fortunately other available"

"Always a welcoming place to visit for a good ever changing selection of beers and nice bite to eat. Last week Ken, Lou and the team went the extra mile in helping us host our daughters 18th Birthday party for family and friends. From providing the use of the back bar area, the brilliant buffet (including a bespoke tray for the sole gluten intollerant guest), Lou's conducting of the rest of the pub in singing Happy Birthday and all around help in organising a lovely afternoon for everyone attending. Everything was spot on. Has to be the friendliest, most welcoming pub in Banbury. Thanks so much for a brilliant afternoon."

"If I'm honest, this place has been up and down for years, but it's finally back as it should be. great eating, great vibes, great atmosphere! a wonderful pub and the hotel is also fantastic! would recommend everyone and the new management luke and leanne are beautiful and so a laugh well done both to bring this place back to life xx"

"I was greeted pleasantly and showed to the terrace outside overlooking the market and we planned to have lunch. Looked at the menu and for a burger alone £20 25. And it did not feel like a high end restaurant (where you might expect these high prices) more like standard pub grub. After we ordered drinks, I just got the vibe that it wasn’t going to be a great meal so we decided to just have drinks and find somewhere else nearby for food. Our drinks were flat, but we weren’t really too bothered until we saw the bill. £10 for 2 soft drinks. I still cannot believe that it can cost £5 for a coke!"
