"Food drinks: We reserved an outdoor table because we have our little chihuahua with us and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food here is absolutely the best you can get anywhere in New Zealand. A small but perfectly designed menu. The gin selection is wonderful and served In beautiful glasses with a side of tonic. There are some delicious local gins on the menu. We had the venison one night, snapper the next and the risotto. Every dish is thoughtful, delicious and beautifully presented. The deserts the same. Ethan Zheng was the manager on our visits this year, he is an absolute asset to this lodge. He is such a wonderful host. Wherever he goes next will truly benefit from his presence. "Excellent food, great service. The buttered chicken was pretty good, but would probably try the ribs next time. Good feedback on the garlic prawns as a main. Also the fish of the day was good. Nice selection of desserts and some good beer options."
