Lovely place in front of the harbour. Friendly staff and excellent food. Try pasta and crawfish (worth the price), fish soup or foie gras. Order a local red win...

"Recent changes to this eatery had kept me away, but looking for take away for the family one night and picked up a menu... phoned my order ahead, and went in to collect. Food was ready, a quick run down on the new business model and I was good to go! Food was amazing, as it has always been. So no disappointments here!"

"Love it. Stumbled across this pub when out walking around town in the rain. We had dinner here. It was so good we came back the next night. And the next. Service was spot on. Atmosphere was relaxed typical country pub, with a little bit of extra class thrown in. So far we have had lamb shanks, grilled trevally, veggie lasagna and a chibatta loaf with olive oil and garlick butter. GF is going for the chilli prawns tonight and I'm having the veggie curry. Can't wait."

"The decor is nice, the food was tasty, the staff waitress was abrupt and inflexible. I ordered a dish that came with 2 eggs. I asked could I swap one egg for a piece of toast and leave out the salsa salad. Waitress said they...will not alter any menu item so I could not swap the egg for a piece of toast. It’s not a difficult swap and the slice of bread is probably cheaper and easier to cook than an egg. Conversely they were quite happy to leave out the salad but still charge me the same price. Inflexible attitude to a very easy substitution and abrupt tone of voice mean I would not recommend this cafe in a town where there are several other hopefully more friendly and flexible options to try."

"This place is amazing. A must visit if you are in Castlemaine. Actually, you can visit Castlemaine just for it. Try any sausage, you can't go wrong. The Kransky is my favourite. Also, the coffee and cakes are bloody brilliant. The turkish coffee and the vanilla choc marbled tea cake are my favourites. The place is quite charming and without frills. The staff are very friendly and service is great."
