Mixed Plate from Pukalani Menu

What User doesn't like about Mixed Plate:
we stayed here on the way to haleakala because otherwise there were extremely limited options. nothing is marked on the menu so that we asked the owner: the tamales plate is vegan or they can do a vegan burrito without milk products. we wanted to try both. the tamale plate was really good. recommend def. the burrito, while massiw, was quite missing I did not recommend it. Look forward to the diverse, fine Mexican cuisine, traditionally prepared with corn, beans and chilies (hot peppers).

Quiet place in a strip mall. The menu doesn’t specify vegan but if you ask, say “vegan no dairy” and they will point out the items. Can’t go wrong with the tama...

"One of my absolute favorite places we visited. The drive there was scenic and very enjoyable. So dont let the distance deter you from visiting this must see place. The mountain views were the most breathtaking I've ever had. I was in complete awe. We were able to walk around and enjoy all the lush greenery. We didn't take the train tour. We came for an early dinner. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. You will not regret it. One of the highlights of our maui visit!"

"So disappointed. When we got there (a few minutes early) we were told there would be about a thirty minute wait. So my boyfriend and I tried to kill time and grab a drink at the bar. that did NOT go well. We were totally ignored. We tried to get the bartenders attention a few times, even made direct eye contact, but he never helped us ... So, after about ten minutes, we walked down to the other end of the crowded bar. The bartender on that side was nice and smiled, but she told us she was a service tender for wait staff and we would have to order on the other side ... So we went back to the other side and continued to be ignored for another five minutes. SOOOOOO we left and walked around the parking lot for a bit and found a place downstairs that sold beer by the can. My boyfriend bought and as soon as we cracked them open our table was ready. We went upstairs, and the waitress rudely confiscated his not-even-sipped-yet beer because you cannot bring outside beverages ... OK, whatever, I get it. it SUCKED because we *wanted* to buy drinks at the bar but no one would help us. but the REAL kicker is that when I made the reservation, I mentioned that it was my Boyfriends Birthday and requested that they bring him something with a candle in it to surprise him (I said on the reservation that I didn't want him to know I told them it was his birthday and that I wanted it to be a surprise) ... while we were eating, a table next to us celebrated a birthday with a candle, so I was certain his would be coming at the end of the meal. Nope. Nada. So for his birthday ... all he got was bad service and his beer taken away from him. (and again, I get it. no outside drinks. but she was real rude about it) I felt SO bad!!! it was our first night in Hawaii and I wish we would have gone somewhere else. What an (expensive) waste of time and money."
