I've eaten here many times while shopping and staying in Red Deer and been happy with the buffet choices. It's just called the Red Deer Buffet on the signage now. I heard from a friend it wasn't good but apparently the management has changed and they have changed their mind about the restaurant. I recommend it. View all feedback.
What Chanelle Pacocha doesn't like about Red Deer Buffet:
Can't say there was one dish that was excellent. Everything was pretty awful. We are older-ish and know what food should taste like. Also, WAY too much money for what we had. View all feedback.
This is the worst buffet I have ever gone to. During the week, 6pm, very quiet maybe 25 customers. Most of the food was cold or looked like it had been laying there for some time. Even the soup was hardly warm. I tried a couple plate fulls and barely ate half of each. As soon as I had the first few bites, I should have left, but thought it all can't be bad. I commented to the hostess, and her answer was quote "well its steaming so it must be hot, looks fresh to me"...wow.At that point I walked her over to of my favorite dishes (which I never did get). Pointed out they were stone cold and had not been refilled since my arrival. As for value, supper is pretty expensive at $16 for reheated leftovers. I don't mind spending money on a good meal, but you're not going to find that here. I offered to pay half the bill and walked out the door. I'll never go back here.
Reasonably priced but, not if the food is cold, not warm cold. When inquired about the problem and told it was because it was not busy. Odd how the place was half full on a Sunday Brunch. Besides what has that got to do with it, as a frequent traveler, buffets are our # 1 choice, so why do they lower the temperatures on the steamers, do they think people will eat less??? It is very dangerous, NOW when I encounter this I make an attempt to contact the local health board. Some of the food trays were empty the whole hour we were there, WHY? They must have run out of food or again a way to save money. NOTE to all buffet owners, you may save now by doing this, but you lose in the long run because I told two friends and they told two friends etc. My advice is to check other restaurants in Red Deer, especially if you are traveling.
Worst Chinese food experience EVER! Waitress was super rude and condescending. Food was dried out or just plain cold. Overpriced, especially for the poor quality of food!! SO disappointing that it was that bad! They need better staff and cleaner bathrooms. I'm telling all my freinds in Alberta NEVER to go to this place it is a total rip off and a terrible experience.
After reading other reviews I was not expecting much. But everything exceeded expectations. Lots of variety on the buffet and the butter tarts are to die for.
Ordered a takeout and was given a small Styrofoam container. So since its a buffet place, I've figured to just filled up that container to its max capacity (not kind where food were over-spilling) and for an average size man, I eat a lot, at least 2 plates if I would had dined in. When I was about to pay for the food, this man in the counter checked my container opened it up and said it was too much food. He went back to the buffet station and started transferring back the food from my container. I could not believe it. Never going back again!!
