Pretty decent dim sum. Drove up from the 757 area to try this place. Food came out hot and fresh. The xiao long bao and the cold noodles were the highlights for me. The pan fried baozi skin was a little too thick. And the pig ears were tasteless and under seasoned. They tasted only of the chili oil that they were tossed with. Definitely willing to give it another try and try some other dishes. View all feedback.
What Lissy A doesn't like about Bob's Shanghai 66:
I really wanted to like this place. But I may not ordered the right dishes. I ordered one mushroom noodle, one beef rice noodle and a rice cake desert. None are up to my expectations. Before I ordered I asked the waiter if the noodles is hand made. She said yes. But the noodle is just made from dry noodle, not even the frozen fresh noodle. The mushroom noodle uses canned mushrooms, the soup base is salty even though... View all feedback.
My favourite place in DMV for soup dumplings!! While they are all good, my favorite is the Crab and Pork XLB Soup Dumplings. Spicy “Cheng-Du” Chicken and the Spicy Wontons are also delicious. Service is great and food comes relatively fast, minus the soup dumplings, which take a little time. This place is always packed!
The star of the show here is the soup dumplings that are great, tasteful and a pleasure to eat! I came at 5:00 on a Tuesday as a solo dinner and sat immediately; many empty tables, although there is a decent number of people in the time I left. I also got the salt and pepper silk, which was crispy and golden, but a little lack of taste: I would have appreciated a little more salt, and maybe some hot peppers, as I had with the dish elsewhere. The server was beautiful and has enjoyed a variety of tables alike: one of Shanghai's visitors looking for a taste of home, a family that seemed unfamiliar with the menu and demanded Western utensils, and my table from one. I'd be back next time. Note: No asterisk because you don't come here because of the toilet, but the ladies' room was pretty rough. A thoroughly clean, fresh color and perhaps new tiles is fine!
By far the best Chinese restaurant in DMV. Their XLBs are incredible and other dumping dishes are also great. Dan dan noodle and roasted rice were also delicious. I don't think I ever had a bad meal from here. You do not accept credit cards and really busy during the weekend dinner time. Very recommended!
This place has my favorite best flavored fried rice around. I had so many food here and they were all delicious. The disadvantage is how oily food is here. The shrimp toast that was just threatened in oil took me 3 paper towels to suck the oil from one piece. The emptying was also so oily that I feel sick. While this is a delicious place to eat, it is definitely the most Greek Chinese food around, so if you have a sensitivity for it, I do not recommend this place.
One of my favorite Chinese in DC metro. It offers one of the better xiao long bao and shumai in the area. On our last visit shrimp dumpling (ha gao) and twice cooked pork were disappointing. Credit cards are accepted now but I noticed that prices are noticeable higher too.
